| The Koala is one of Australia's most loved
native animals. Koala's are soft, grey-brown, fury animals about 75 cm (2'
6'') long and they are highly specialised for arboreal life.
Koala's hands have a vice-like grip together with very long arms and curved
claws. Their tales have been replaced by a callus pad which enables them
to sit for long periods of time in forks of trees without discomfort.
These rigorously protected animals are found in eucalypt forests along the
east coast of Australia and for decades zoos and wildlife sanctuaries around
the world have worked tirelessly to obtain breeding pairs of this endangered
species.
